Randy Jackson Gives Lu A Shout Out On American Idol

Yep, who would have thought Randy Jackson would drop Lu's name, in a flattering moment while sizing up contestant Lily Scott after she performed Sam Cooke's "A Change Is Gonna Come." Not me. I don't watch the show all that much, however, found this while doing searches on Lu and thought it was cool Randy uttered Lu's name in the same sentence as Bob Dylan. Nice compliment.

Here was Randy's critique:

"Yo, you know what I really love about this season? It's kind of the season with the most unique contestants we've ever had. By that, what I mean: Bjork, Dylan, Lucinda Williams -- all these people are so unique and so their own -- that's what I love about you. I mean, even to take off what I said there. It's again, the thing we'll never say about you is that -- you're definitely unique and you do your thing. That song's one of the toughest songs in the world to sing, to me, because it's one of the greatest ever; Sam's one of the greatest ever. But, dude, you worked it out; you did your thing. My favorite performance so far tonight. I loved it.

HA! Point taken. I thought it interesting just the same and one can't deny the audience this show attracts. If just ONE person googles Lu's name that's not familiar with her, well, that's one fan Lu gains.

Yes, it's American Idol where a recording contract is awarded to the winner. Contestants found through auditions across the country compete singing and viewers call in to vote for their favorite of the evening. It's similar to singing karoake on steroids, to me, anyway. I watch it every now and then.

I'm actually (watching almost weekly) and rooting for Crystal Bowersox. The girl can sing, play, and if she can hone some songwritng skills, she will be the real deal!

I was out of town awhile, and havent checked this website lately, IS Lu going on tour again,???? or just a few shows???? IF I'm near, I'll be there! We will be out "west" in August! Hmmm-mm!
